The things people ask first.
How is this different from copying a message into a translator?
There is no copying. You write the way you always write and press send. The message is translated before it lands, so the person reading it sees it in their own language, in the same thread, at the same moment. Nobody leaves the conversation to look something up.
Does the other person need the app?
Yes — they read on Nose the same way you write on it. The free plan covers everything an ordinary conversation needs, so inviting someone doesn't mean asking them to pay. You send them a link, they install it, and your chat is waiting.
Which languages are supported?
42 languages on the paid plans, including Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Punjabi, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Haitian Creole and American English. The free plan covers any two of them.
Can I see what was actually typed?
Always. Tap and hold any message to see the original next to the translation. Nothing is hidden from either side — both people can check the words they were sent at any time.
What if a translation comes out wrong?
Machine translation is very good and it is not perfect. Tap and hold to see the original, and tap Report on any message that reads oddly — it goes to the people who tune the models for that language pair. Pro accounts can also lock specific terms, so a name, an address or a part number is never reworded.
Does it handle voice notes?
On Plus and above, a voice note arrives as readable text in your language, with the audio attached. You hear their actual voice and you read what they said.
Is my conversation private?
Messages are encrypted in transit and at rest, and a message is translated only in order to deliver it. We do not sell personal data and we do not run advertising. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is processed, how long it is kept, and how to delete your account and its contents.
Should I use Nose for something serious — medical, legal, financial?
Use it to stay in touch, coordinate and get everyday work done. For a diagnosis, a contract, a court matter or anything with legal weight, use a qualified human interpreter or translator. Nose is not a certified translation service and doesn't hold itself out as one.
Can I cancel?
Any time, from Settings on your iPhone. Subscriptions are billed through your Apple account and renew until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep the paid features until the period you've already paid for runs out.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. Nose is on iPhone today, and Android is being built. If you want to hear when it lands, write to us and we'll tell you.
